12/12/2010  FORGOTTEN VILLAGES

RAGGALDS, MOUNTAIN AND WEST SCHOLES
Between Queensbury, Clayton and Thornton, across the top of Bradford-dale, lies an area rich in social and industrial history. It is an area of mystery to visitors, with farms, cottages and even hamlets hidden away from those who remain in their cars. It is also an area of surprising and sometimes humorous histroy concerning the mills, collieries, railways, shops and social life which have now mostly disappeared. This is history related by the Owd 'Uns, by family memory and legend, supported with documentary and photographic records.
The book 'Forgotten Villages' compiled by Stan Ledgard is now available at Picture This priced £ 12.95
